Fatmir Gjevukaj

Associate Dean of Instruction, Lecturer 3D (3ds Max, ZBrush), Anatomy

Fatmir’s 25+ year career includes working as a Fine Artist, Illustrator, Sculptor and since 2004 as a 3D artist in the entertainment industry. 

 

Fatmir has worked as Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Arts, University of Prishtina (Kosova), and since moving to the USA as a Z-Brush and 3ds Max expert, with studios such as Midway Games, Radioactive Labs, Critical Mass Interactive and Intific. 

 

His combination of classical art training and in-depth knowledge of anatomy combined with his expert knowledge of Digital software such as Zbrush and 3ds Max helped to establish his reputation as a Character Artist. Fatmir holds a M.F.A. from the Faculty of Arts, University of Prishtina (Kosova) with a major in Painting.

A.J. Trahan

Adjunct Instructor, Digital Painting, Character Concept Art

A.J. Trahan grew up in Austin's hill country and has been drawing since he was old enough to hold a pencil. A.J. was classically trained among the first graduating classes of Gemini School, and has worked as a Concept Artist at Disney Interactive and several game production studios in Austin and Los Angeles working on video game titles such as Epic Mickey, Halo 4, Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel, Brink and BlackSite: Area 51. AJ currently works at Certain Affinity as a senior concept artist.

Shawn Melchor

Adjunct Instructor, Environment Concept Art

Shawn Melchor is a Concept Artist and has been working in the entertainment industry for 7+ years. In 2009, Shawn started his career as a Concept Artist at Disney's Junction Point Studios where he worked on the critically acclaimed Epic Mickey and the sequel Epic Mickey 2: The power of two. During his time at Disney he created concepts for a variety of different projects ranging from AAA console games to mobile. A diligent and multitalented artist, Shawn created digital and traditional works for the Character Designs, Environments, as well as a multitude of Visual Development and Marketing art needs.  After Junction Point closed their doors in 2013, Shawn had the pleasure of working on various projects while working as a freelance artist. Clients include: Volition Games, Picture Plane, Clarus Agency, Portalarium and Maximum Games. In 2014 Shawn was then hired by Nintendo's Retro Studios in Austin TX and is currently working on an unannounced project.

Christy Sepulveda

Adjunct Instructor, Industrial Design

Christy Sepulveda is a Texas raised Peruvian-American professional Industrial Designer. She went to school at the University of Houston College of Architecture and Design where she learned about product development design, manufacturing, research and human factors in which she still applies in her field of work today. Since, she has worked for large companies such as Dell, HP and M3 Design and continues to produce physical products to this day. She has a strong emphasis in strategic consulting, product design, usability and human factors.

At M3 Design, she consults for companies such as Stryker, Home Run Dugout, Blue Goji and many more, creating products used in the medical field, social gaming and consumer electronics. When she is not consulting, she spends her time expanding her abilities by passing on her learnings and visual communications skills at Gemini.

Mark Anderson

Adjunct Instructor, Photoshop

Building on a background in traditional art, metalsmithing & industrial design, Mark’s nearly 25 years in the games industry has taken him from the first polygonal sports games to building and directing art teams on some of the most beloved titles in the industry. 

 

A founding member of Sony's Santa Monica Studio, he successfully created the company’s first technical art department. The combination of that team’s artists tools, and his contributions as an art director and FX artist were an integral part of the God of War franchise. As part of Sony Online, he worked directly with DC Comics to create the first MMO specifically for a console, contributing as a technical artist, art director and game director.

 

At multiplayer specialist Certain Affinity, he built and directed art teams on some of the top console shooters in the world, including Halo, Doom and Call of Duty. He continues to build art teams as Principal Art Sourcer-er at Blizzard Entertainment, where he helps find and grow some of the brightest artists around the world.

Michael Pavlovich

Director, Digital Media Department

 

Michael Pavlovich has been in the game industry since graduating from the Ringling School of Art and Design in 2005.

 

Michael has worked on several titles for multiple platforms, including NCAA, Madden, DC Universe Online, and Halo 4, as well as providing ZBrush training for both Eat3D and Pixologic.

 

Having worked previously at Electronic Arts and Sony Online Entertainment, Michael is currently a Senior Character Artist at Certain Affinity in Austin, TX.

Mike currently teaches 3D (ZBrush, Maya) and Anatomy at Gemini School of Visual Arts.

Bruce Lee

Adjunct Instructor, Industrial Design

With over 25 years as a designer, Bruce has designed everything from cell phones to semi-trucks and everything in between. Bruce received a Bachelor of Industrial Design from Auburn University in 1994; ever since then he has continued to grow and learn as a designer. Working across many industries for such companies as Bose, Peterbilt, and Peavey Electronics, as well as several design consultancies. He currently works for Mako Design and Invent in Austin Texas. Bruce has always enjoyed film and pulp culture and in his spare time likes to recreate iconic movie props such as the Ark of the Covenant from Raiders of the Lost Ark. He also enjoys creating graphic portraits of famous fictional heroines with his Women of Sci-Fi project.

Rolf Mohr

Adjunct Instructor, Character and Environment Concept Art

 

Rolf Mohr is an art director and concept artist having worked in sci-fi illustration, video games, film and toy development over the years, with a Bachelors degree in Architecture and Environmental Design.

 

After working for Sony Computer Entertainment in London he moved to Los Angeles where he spent 12 years working for companies such as DreamWorks, Hasbro, Neversoft and Insomniac Games before relocating to Austin, Texas as Visual Development Director on Disney’s Epic Mickey. His credits include Cowboys & Aliens; Halo Anniversary; Resistance: Fall of Man; Ratchet & Clank; The Lost World: Trespasser; Superman Lives; Helen of Troy Exo; Beast Machines: Transformers; Star Wars: Jedi Academy; Tachyon: The Fringe and The Mutant Chronicles and more recently Visual effects supervisor on the feature film “Tracker”.

 

Rolf currently teaches Digital Character and Environment Concept Art at the Gemini School of Visual Arts.

Ted Pendergraft

Adjunct Professor, Digital Painting

 

Ted Pendergraft currently works at Twisted Pixel Games as a concept artist.

 

He got his start in the entertainment industry working as a concept designer on the films “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Van Helsing” before graduating college with a Bachelors degree in Illustration.

 

His work has been twice featured in “Spectrum: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art” and he has worked in the video game industry for over five years proving himself as an integral contributor on two titles (XBOX 360 and XBOX ONE) from start to finish. He enjoys living in Austin with his loving wife, two kids, and a cat.

Danny Moll

Adjunct Instructor, Character Concept Art

 

Danny Moll graduated from the Gemini School of Visual Arts with a diploma in Visual Arts & Communication in 2011 and is an artist living in Austin, TX. 

 

During his senior year at Gemini School, Danny landed an internship at Disney Interactive at Junction Point Studios and started his career in the game/animation industry. During his time there, Danny created inspirational concept art to define stylistic and storytelling direction for new projects and created concepts for high-level environment and prop designs. After working at Disney Interactive, Danny moved on to work for Multimedia Games in Austin producing concepts and illustrations for 2D video games, followed by 3 years at Powerhouse Animation Studios as a digital painter and background artist. Danny currently works at Stoic as a senior artist on the Banner Saga 3.

Michelle Dickens

Adjunct Instructor, Illustration, Gesture Drawing

 

Michelle Dickens earned her BFA in Illustration from Syracuse University in 2003 and her MFA Illustration degree from the School of Visual Arts in 2005. 

 

Michelle's career includes visual development and environment artwork for animation and game studios on projects ranging from television series and advertisements to virtual reality and online games. She has held the role of Supervising Storybook Artist at Nickelodeon Animation Studios on "Dora the Explorer" and "Dora and Friends: Into the City.  Passionate about delivering a quality education to aspiring creative professionals, Michelle has taught at Syracuse University and is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Austin Community College as well as teaching Illustration and Gesture Drawing at Gemini School. She is a member of the Society of Illustrators and Plein Air Austin.

Tim Uys

Adjunct Instructor, Industrial Design

 

Tim Uys was born and grew up in South Africa where he studied Mechanical Engineering and Industrial design, earning his Bachelor of Industrial Design from the University of Johannesburg in 1997.

 

After gaining experience in the local design industry designing Home telephone systems, satellite decoder boxes and electric kitchen equipment, Tim was offered and accepted a position in Austin Texas in 2005. After making the move he worked for a local design consultancy ID-ONE developing consumer and industrial products for a diverse group of clients.

 

Some highlights included work for Dell, Nike, Motorola/Freescale, Seiko and the IRONMAN brand to name a few. In 2009 Tim launched his own design consultancy Bomania LLC and in 2011 accepted a position at the Gemini School of Visual Arts where he teaches Industrial design.
